One thing I noticed (and read about) was the problems with
keeping the tender coupled to the engine. The factory connection can come
undone fairly easily and many were using twist ties to keep them together.
Wanting to avoid this sort of a nuisance, I built my own and redesigned how it
worked. Hopefully the photos explain what and how it works.
By designing it this way the weight of the tender forces the
pin downwards on the engine drawbar and keeps it from coming uncoupled.
