MTH One Gauge Catalogs:
Model Overview:
The GS-4/ GS-2 was MTH's second set of new steam engines produced.
- Detail is excellent and true to prototype with key detail parts being made of metal/brass
- Axles and gears are all metal for long life
- Eliminates failures seen in other mfg engines: Gear & Motor bearing failures
- Plastic frames (both engine and tender) with plastic boiler and tender shell.
- Driver engine set is hinged/articulated between #2 and #3 drivers to allow easier navigation on tight radius curves
- Smoke output from stack timed to engine chuffs
- Plastic connecting rods (only steam engine with plastic rods. Likely chosen to allow more flexibility at the hinge/articulation point)
- Shipping note: If shipping this engine, remove the front cow-catcher off the engine and place in isolated section in the styrofoam box. The cow-catcher has a tendency to break on shipping if nosed down.
